Handmade Whimsy!
I'm a New York based Designer who received my Degree in Fashion Design and Illustration @ Anders Beckmans School of Advertising and Fashion Design in Stockholm Sweden. My love for art goes back further than I can remember, however I do know that when I was 4 mom sent me to an art class and I absolutely loved all the fun supplies and colors that I didn't have at home! At 7 I was sewing clothes as well. Whether it be drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, designing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, decorating, you name it, I love it all! As long as I'm creating I'm happy! For 25 years I worked as an Illustrator/ Commercial artist in advertising, publishing and fashion in Sweden and in New York. Since 1999 I've been concentrating on designing and making fun, whimsical and unique jewelry. My inspirations come from many different decades but I especially love the Shabby Chic/Romantic/Boho style and Steampunk which to me is the perfect mix of Victorian Romanticism combined with the beginning of our Industrial Age and goes perfectly well with the romantic and rocker in me! (Male and female, Yin and Yang if you will) As for the creative process, it can take me several days to weeks to create a necklace. For me it's like a painting that I keep adding to, rearranging, subtracting from, like a puzzle. I'll step away from the piece, even work on something else for awhile and then come back to it and work until I finally think it's done! My nick name is Mocki and how I always signed my art work, therefore my shop name became Mocki Designs! Hope that you enjoy my shop!
