Frequently asked questions
Do I need to add stain to use your products outside?
Yes. The wood needs a weatherproof stain. This is a good non-toxic one and they recommend a tinted stain for extra UV protection and re-staining yearly. A quart is enough for a mud kitchen.

Any weatherproof stain from the hardware store will work though.
Are the kitchens hard to assemble?
The kitchens come partially assembled. The lower shelf, counter, and back wall are all assembled so you just have to attach them to the legs. All of the parts are labeled and we send easy to follow instructions. Assembly takes about 15 minutes. You can leave it outside for the winter and play with it in the snow, or bring it in.
How does the water pump work?
The pump is installed in the counter top and has a hose that goes into a bucket below the kitchen or off to the side of the kitchen. When you pump the handle on the pump, it pulls water up from the bucket. You always want to make sure the bucket only has clear water in it (no dirt, sand, tiny objects) so the pump doesn’t break. The dirt water that’s in the sink should be dumped out into the grass, and never into the bucket that feeds the pump.
Do you recommend staining before I assemble my item or after?
Before assembly is best, but after will work too.
Are you able to customize the height of your mud kitchens?! If so are there specific ones that can be customized?
Yes, we can. It's an additional $10 for every additional inch, and additional height can be added to any of our products. We also have leg extenders that you can buy, and those add .5" to 6" of extra height so it change depending on the age of the child(ren) using it.
