Welcome to Monkeys With Scissors!
I started this store when my teenagers were toddlers with the intention of making things in my spare time to bring in a side income. I never found that spare time, but enjoyed the crazy busy of raising my four children. Now that my kids are 8-16, I'm finding the time to do things like this again. Monkeys with Scissors, was named after my oldest two, who I lovingly called my silly little monkeys, and my love for sewing and paper crafting. This store was finally taken off vacation mode in 2024!
This store is me sharing my heart with the world. I love growing succulents and propagating them. I also love sewing, paper crafting,
I hope the care I put into the plants will show when you receive very healthy plants. I also have leaves and cuttings available so you can try your hand at propagating. I am always looking for more things to add to my shop that makes gardening easier. I offer soil and a nursery pot as an add on for each plant so you can have all the supplies you need to get started. I ship bare root after letting the plants dry out for a day or two to ensure you get the healthiest plant possible.
Monkeys with Scissors is a women owned business. The business is ran fully by a mom of four. This year, I am bringing in my daughters as we explore making coloring pages, bookmarks, and stickers from their artwork. I am excited to help them share their passion with the world
I love to be creative and make things that make people happy. I try to make the least waste I can in my crafting. I also enjoy taking things that have reached the end of their useful life and turn them into something new. Some of the "second chance it I like to make are chunky crayons out of old broken ones, layered candles from old wax tarts, and reusable bags from fabric scraps.
Keeping in mind the impact I am making on our planet is important to me as a person. With that said, this shop will never have ZERO impact on the environment. I will try to make more sustainable choices as I have the opportunity to do so. I try to look at items that have outlived their useful life and see if I can make them into new useful products. But it's also important to me that the quality is there and I am making something that's not just going to become trash quickly in my customer's home. I try to cut down on waste in packaging and find ways to recycle what I am using. For example, I am looking at making my own boxes and using recyclable paper tape to ship. It is important to me to cut down on single use plastics so I will do my best to not include any in my shipping supplies. I will also include a note in my packaging of how to recycle or reuse any packaging that is included. I will try to reuse packaging and scraps from products made while making my products whenever possible. That is just the way I live life. I'm always trying to take one step closer to a more sustainable life. I hope you will join me on that journey!
I have 4 kids that I am blessed to stay home and teach during the day. I have limited crafting time so I will list things as I am able to. Message me if there is something you are wanting that I haven't re-listed and I will let you know if I can make it soon or not.
