Oh how I love vintage glass and goodies!
I've always loved garage sales and estate sales since I can remember. My parents were antique collectors for more than 50 years and some of my earliest and best memories are from accompanying them on their treasure hunts. I remember flea markets and antique shops as being fun, magical places and most importantly, I was spending time with my momma and daddy on their quests.
About fifteen years ago I began to do my own hunting. I would go to various garage and estate sales to see what treasures I could find and then sell online to those who were looking for them. I found that vintage jewelry was my favorite and my desire to buy the broken (I would call them toothless) pieces without stones just to bring them back to life was a passion.
It was while hunting for just the right rhinestones that I had an epiphany. I enjoyed buying the rhinestones so much that I figured I may as well buy those to sell them too! (My husband jokingly tells me that I sell them so I can buy more!)
My first truly huge purchase was an absolute delight. I bought close to half a ton of vintage glass and my living room at the time was filled from stem to stern with boxes and boxes of vintage, glass goodness.
I have said it so many times... there is something so extraordinary about opening a neatly tied box and bringing those stones out into the light of day again after being in the dark for sometimes as long as 70 years.
Every once in awhile one of the original package wraps will have deteriorated and I’ve no choice but to transfer the stones to a different container and in this case, I will not have a photo of the original package in my listing, however I do my best to always keep my stones in their original packages as long as possible as Swarovski’s method of packaging has proved to be tried and true for nearly a century. They are the absolute experts on the care and storage of their crystal - I open packages from 1947 and the stones look as if they’ve never been touched.
Now I can send these little goodies on their way for others to repair their "toothless" jewelry, create their own art, or a myriad other things. - Creating things is a deep part of who I am... I love to bring art into the world whether it be with a paintbrush, guitar, piano, pen, or the bits of sparkly goodness in my inventory and so being able to share these little seeds here with others to cultivate into their own art is especially rewarding.
Over the past 10 years I've been also creating jewelry myself - from vintage flavored rhinestone pieces to clay and even crocheted and beaded designs, I love using my vintage findings, stones, and other more contemporary stuff to create!
