Recycle, refinish, renew!!!
As a kitchen and bath designer by trade, when the recession hit in the mid 2000's, my business was hit too. And honestly after nearly twenty years of designing, I was ready for a change. So when my kitchen design career took a sharp sprial downward, I was determined to rise to the occasion.
So my top of the list lifelong passions have always been combing thrift stores and yard sales on the weekends, and living the beach life! Being that I live a few blocks from the ocean here in north Florida, morning beach walks are pretty much a daily routine for me and my three little dogs (well actually only two, the third one doesn't like the beach).
Anyway, I've always dabbled with shell art, crafts, refinishing furniture, or just breathing life back into something old, worn or rickety, so when it was time to tackle a new career I decided I wanted to somehow combine my passions and go for it.
I had already started recycling wine glasses from yard sales etc, and painting them or embellising them as gifts for people just for fun. And my whole life I have been refinishing and renewing furniture, lamps, mirrors, frames and more, sometimes for myself, or for a friend, and I loved doing it. Friends had encouraged me in the past to sell some of my things, so I figured it was time to take a leap of faith and go for it, and so that's how More Than Seashells began. I have this Etsy shop , but I also sell most of my furniture items on social sights locally.
I am a woman of faith, and I believe everything happens for a reason.
I am thankful and blessed, and looking forward to growing in this new season of my life! :)
