The Morphed Studio Story
I've always loved making things and fixings things up. I've been making homemade gifts for people and fixing up and repurposing furniture for many, many years. I recently wallpapered three rooms in my house and had lots of leftover wallpaper as well as all the samples I'd ordered. I couldn't just throw it away, so I looked into ways to reuse it. I started making coasters using the pieces, but still had so much left. I began going to thrift stores and garage sales to get some inspiration. I was shocked by how many amazing things people don't want anymore. Most of what I buy needs some TLC, so that's what I do. I give every piece a thorough cleaning, make repairs, and then start the transformation process. I make sure that each piece is completely changed - morphed - from what it was originally so that it can be (re)loved by someone.
Buying things that have been repurposed or remade as opposed to buying brand new is so much better for our planet. This is because you are:
*creating less waste (buying used items keeps them out of landfills)
* reducing pollution (pollution happens in every step of the process of producing new items)
* saving natural resources (producing new things requires the use of natural resources, many of which are not renewable)
* decreasing our water footprint (production of new things requires a huge amount of water)
* saving energy (producing new items requires energy sources such as electricity, coal, natural gas, and/or nuclear energy in order to operate machines and factories, not to mention the fuel required to transport these items!)
* using less packaging (I reuse almost all of the packaging as well!).
Thank you for supporting my store and for being good to the planet by not buying new, but buying MORPHED. ;)
