Shop policies

Welcome to Moth and Magpie. Hope you enjoy discovering my little world.

I'm enjoying showcases my creations here on Etsy, especially because it means I get to meet like-minded people. I'm always looking to improve and my aim is for your experience to be a positive one.

You may have noticed that I use a lot of salvaged, vintage and antique materials in my products, so shopping with me is an eco friendly option. As for my environmental footprint, I am practically on tiptoes-hardly leaving a mark! I source my treasures as locally as possible, buy recycled where available, try to use recycled or vintage packaging, shop at independent local stores, usually on foot, and visit charity shops nearly as often as I walk past them. Even the certificates which come with each piece of jewellery are hand typed on my vintage typewriter on antique paper and mounted in vintage book covers. It’s sort of my signature thing- a little card telling you the title of the jewellery and what it is made from. I'm no eco-worrier, I just hate waste and value unique, well loved materials.

Delivery

POSTAL OPTIONS
I'll charge a bit more for a safer delivery method as my items are irreplacable one-offs. Its worth it not to have to worry. If I send abroad it'll be signed for delivery.
Convo me before you buy if you'd like quotes for the different delivery options.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS
I've no clue about international customs, please work with me to investigate this before you buy, as you'll know more than me about your country's laws. My requirement is that we keep things strictly legal and above board, so for example I wouldn’t want to fill out a customs form in a misleading way. You will be responsible for any customs charges. Do convo me if you are thinking of buying from me, as I'll consider sending anywhere but need to research postage and potential customs issues on your item first.

DELIVERY
Unless you've placed a custom order or we've agreed to modify an item, I will ship within 3 business days. However, I usually ship more quickly than this and if you have a deadline, do let me know so I can do my utmost to send it as soon as possible.

Additional policies and FAQs

Perhaps you like a design but have an idea of how you'd like it altered?

One thing close to my heart is custom orders-I know it feels risky but don't be scared to try it out! Maybe you want something made from your inherited or unworn jewellery? The key is good communication; I shall send you photo updates and detailed questions. This way the risk of disappointment upon delivery is minimized and you get something completely unique, something that wouldn't exist if it weren't for you.

PRIVACY You should be able to shop with complete peace of mind. I will never, ever, pass your details on to a third party. If you'd like to keep up to date, follow me on Facebook and Instagram, or ask to receive my newsletter. If you should happen to see adverts for my shop pop up on the side of your google or facebook browser, this is because they tailor their ads to your activity by monitoring your browser history. Scary!

Do remember that you don't have to click 'buy' before you start discussing potential
orders. We could convo with photos, come up with some ideas and you can decide whether its what you want to do or not before you part with any cash-no pressure!
