About

For the Love of Fiber

I started knitting ten years ago and fell in love with fiber. Even before I knew how to spin, I was drawn to unspun fleece and coveted bright batts. I discovered needle felting as an embellishment to knitted fabric, but wasn't satisfied with the results it produced. On doing some further investigation, I found that it was possible to do 3D sculpture with wool and the idea intrigued me. With very little experience under my belt, I posted my first needle felted figure, Della the Doe, on Etsy and she sold. I was hooked.
In the past year I have taken up spinning and my passion for fiber has truly blossomed. There is nothing more satisfying than knitting something out of yarn you have spun yourself. When designing my art yarn line, I looked at it from a knitter's perspective. I wanted to produce a product with high quality, sometimes exotic fibers, enough yardage to actually complete a project at a reasonable price, and at a gauge that is easily used in knitting. I discovered corespinning, but most of the corespun yarns available on the market today are very bulky and are only available in very limited amounts. With some modifications on the traditional corespinning technique, I was able to produce just what I was aiming for, generally worsted or aran weight yarn with 100+ yards per skein. I have found suppliers for fibers such as baby camel, sari silk, yak, and local churro and never spin something I myself would not choose to knit something special with.
I am confident that, once people know my shop for more than needle felted miniatures, my art yarn will be well received by the knitting community. Of course, I still have a soft spot for needle felting, and particularly like working on custom orders with customers.

All my items are created by hand, one at a time, and are one of a kind. I will occasionally remake a piece, but due to the nature of the work it is inevitable that no two are exactly the same. When you give one of my pieces a home you can be sure you are getting an heirloom quality item that will surely be treasured for years to come.
My yarn is hand spun and is also one of a kind. I cannot remake yarns or provide larger quantities because I cannot get more of the same fiber from my suppliers. All the batts I spin are OOAK, and thus the yarn I make is OOAK as well. I my be able to make something similar to a previously listed item. If you are allergic to a specific fiber, please message me prior to purchase to make sure that fiber was not used in the yarn you wish to purchase!
Please feel free to contact me about custom items. I generally do not require a deposit for custom items unless it is something personalized. I have never had a customer back out on a custom item agreement. Please don't be my first! I would like to thank my wonderful Etsy customers for several years of great experiences. Please stick with me as I gently shift the focus of my art from needle felting to yarn production. If you have your heart set on a needle felted piece, don't worry! I'm not retiring any time soon from felting :) xoxo, MJ

Payment
I prefer payment by PayPal or direct payment with a credit card through Etsy. If you need to pay by check please note that your item will not ship until the check has cleared which will significantly delay its arrival. Orders paid by money order will ship upon receipt of the money order.
Shipping
Recent increases in shipping costs (specifically international shipping, which has more than doubled recently) has forced me to increase my shipping charges. I am so sorry I have been forced to pass this charge on to my customers, but I cannot afford to take the loss personally. Please understand that I try to ship each item with the minimum packaging while still packing it securely and safely to minimize costs. This is the base rate for small, international packages with USPS. I ship USPS First Class mail. If you require Priority mail please let me know before you pay so I can adjust the shipping charge. Same for insurance. I package all my items very securely and have never had a problem with anything being damaged in transit, but I cannot guarantee this.
Refunds and Exchanges
In the event that your item is damaged in transit please contact me to arrange to have it mended and sent back to you. I generally do not accept returns, but I want all my felties to find happy homes and I want my customers to be happy so please let me know if there is a problem and we can work together to remedy the situation. In the event that an item is lost in transit Paypal will cover the cost of the item or I may replace it for you. Unfortunately, I cannot accept returns on dog hats because your dog will not wear it. Please let me know and I can offer some tips for getting your dog used to hats.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please contact me with any other enquiries or just to say hello! I love doing custom work and usually have a relatively short turn around time, even for complex custom orders.
