I am still a child and will always be one!
I remember decorating a snow wedding cake with the family tube of striped toothpaste when I was about 6 years old. When I got a new coloring book the first thing I would look for is a cupcake with a cherry on top or a cake I could color pink! I used to love to make things in my "Easy Bake" oven. But it was the decorating part that captivated me!
So here I am decades later doing what I was inclined to do so long ago and enjoying every minute. I love to create fake display desserts that are beautiful, realistic and detailed. Not the everyday kind of thing. It's so great that they will never be destroyed by the act of eating them! But if they DON'T look real then back to the drawing board for me!
In 1993 a friend showed me how to make fake pies for her shop at a flea market. I liked it so I prodded her for more ideas and I experimented quite a bit. I rented a booth at a hand crafted market and was able to perfect my art. In 1996 I had my first web store and was selling wholesale to about 30 stores mostly in Florida. I also participated in some well known "craft shows" for a few years.
Today I have created over 100 unique and quite realistic items of which I am very proud. I am the sole proprietor, creator and maker of all things here at Mrs. O's Kitchen, which happens to be my very own kitchen! God bless the internet for making it possible for my store to be open 24/7 while I do the real work. I am now lucky enough to be retired from actual "work" and devote myself to creating new, beautiful and unique fake food display desserts.
Please browse around my store and enjoy the eye-candy there!
