The Heart Behind Ms. Melody Learning
Ms. Melody Learning was born from a lifetime of teaching, creating, and caring deeply about how children learn to read.
For nearly 30 years, I have worked in education as a teacher, literacy supporter, curriculum creator, mentor, and learning advocate for young children. My work has taken me into classrooms, homes, and programs where I have seen one truth again and again: when children are taught with clarity, warmth, and the right tools, they begin to believe, “I can read.”
That belief is the heart of this business.
My passion has always been early literacy, especially for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. These are the years when children are building the foundation for everything that comes next. Children need more than cute worksheets. They need explicit, systematic, child-friendly instruction that helps them connect sounds to letters, letters to words, words to meaning, and meaning to confidence.
That is why my work is foundationally anchored in the Science of Reading research — the body of evidence that helps us understand how children learn to read and how reading should be taught. Every resource I create is designed to support strong early literacy development through clear phonics practice, phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, writing, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
Over the years, I have created songs, lessons, workbooks, stories, and learning routines to help children understand reading in a way that feels joyful and doable. Music has always been part of my teaching because children remember what they can sing, say, move with, and feel. Through Ms. Melody Learning, I bring together my love for literacy, music creation, graphic design, and curriculum development to create resources that are both beautiful and instructionally meaningful.
This work also grew out of a deeply personal season of caregiving. After spending years caring for loved ones, I began thinking about how I could continue to serve families from home while still using the experience, creativity, and knowledge I had built over a lifetime. Ms. Melody Learning became a way for me to pour that experience into something purposeful: resources that support children, encourage parents, and make teaching reading feel less overwhelming.
I especially care about homeschooling families because I understand how much responsibility rests on a parent’s shoulders. You want to give your child a strong start. You want lessons that are clear, engaging, and effective. You want materials that help you know what to say, what to practice, and how to move your child forward step by step.
My goal is to create resources that feel like a trusted teacher is sitting beside you, gently guiding the lesson.
Every workbook, activity, story, and printable is designed with intention. I want children to feel successful. I want parents to feel equipped. I want early reading instruction to feel warm, structured, research-informed, and full of possibility.
Ms. Melody Learning exists to support the sacred work of helping children become readers.
Because when a child learns to read, they do more than decode words on a page. They gain confidence. They gain independence. They gain access to stories, knowledge, imagination, and a world of opportunity.
And it is my joy to help families be part of that beautiful beginning.
