Muchacha: A radically intersectional and decolonial Native Xicana Feminist fanzine
Muchacha Fanzine, born from the spirit of D.I.Y. culture and punk rock feminism, has transformed over the past 15 years from a feminist punk zine into a dynamic platform amplifying radical work from marginalized voices worldwide. Through our commitment to political education and activism, we empower individuals, uplift radical BIPOC voices, and sow the seeds of revolution. Honoring the legacy of independent political publications, we stand fiercely dedicated to the ongoing fight for liberation.
Our fanzine explores a wide array of topics, including art, writing, and political education on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) resistance, intersectional feminism, youth liberation, environmental justice, coalition building, fat liberation, LGBTQ rights, disability justice, migration, Palestinian liberation, decolonizing travel, DIY punk, pop culture, and more.
Muchacha Fanzine has garnered significant international recognition: named “#1 Latina Zine” by Fierce by Mitú; featured by Vice Broadly as one of the top three Latinx zines; listed by The Lily (The Washington Post’s women’s publication) as one of seven must-read zines; included by Remezcla among the top four Latina zines; and cited in the book Fanzine Grrrls: The DIY Revolution in Female Self-Publishing. Muchacha Fanzine #16, "Decolonize Punk," was also one of two winners of the Fanzine Contest organized by Rock’n’Cave (Portugal) and was added to Rock’n’Cave’s international archive.
