Q: Care instructions

Please do not swim, bathe, shower, sleep in, or partake in any activity that could cause stress to your new mala or bracelet. (This includes vigorous activity in which sweating is a factor.) These activities may lead to premature breakage. Should your mala or bracelet break within 60 days of the date of purchase, I will restring it for you at no cost (you are, however, responsible for the fees for shipping the item back to me, as well as the cost of shipping the item back to you upon completion). Should your mala necklace break after the initial 60 day period, there will be a $50 fee for restringing and repair (it will be a $10 fee to restring a bracelet). Please contact me for return instructions.

Welcome to Mud and Lotus Malas! Meditation is the natural state of our bodies and our minds, and a path to clarity, stability and sanity in our world. It's a way to train our minds to not get caught up in, or distracted by, the constant internal chatter. When undertaken as a regular practice, it allows our minds to settle. And, perhaps most importantly, it is a means to enjoy the journey of life. I believe this practice can change the world, one person at a time, and my goal is to encourage more people to take up the art.

In growing through my own practice, I couldn’t find a mala that truly spoke to me. As a total gemstone, rock and mineral nerd, I decided to start making my own malas to use in my personal practice. I quickly found the process of making a mala a form of meditation in itself. From the meticulous choosing of each individual bead, to the hand knotting between each bead, I was hooked. And just like that, Mud and Lotus Malas was born.  

A year ago, my family and I moved out of the city and bought a house in a lovely, quaint town north of Pittsburgh with more room to grow. A spare bedroom was transformed into a serene meditation and yoga space, and this is where I create my malas. Every part of the process is surrounded by calm and tranquility to channel positive energy and intention into every mala I make. (It’s one of my favorite places to be!)

When I’m not designing malas, I enjoy spending time with my family, both human and furry. I'm also a citizen lobbyist and animal advocate through Humane Action Pittsburgh. And whether I'm working in my garden or taking nature walks through the woods, I find peace and presence by connecting with the earth.
