Pamela Mulholland - fine art printmaker and artist inspired by Cornwall, Epping Forest and what life throws my way
Hello, thanks for visiting my Etsy shop - it means a lot to be that you have stopped by and had a browse.
I’ve always loved painting but a few years ago I dabbled in print making and really got the bug. What started as a mindful practice to relieve the pressure of work became so alluring that I wanted to do more. So I decided to study fine art print making at the wonderful Curwen Print Study Centre in Cambridgeshire, graduating in January 2022. I’ve now taken the plunge and am working full time as an artist and fine art print maker, building a studio in my home where Maisie my border terrier demands treats for her work as my studio technician.
In 2022 I exhibited at the Curwen Print Study Centre and in two exhibitions - The Broadway Gallery in Letchworth and The Mariners Gallery in St Ives, Cornwall. I also sold at a number of fairs and markets including the specialist print fair in Cambridge hosted by ‘Ink Paper and Print’ and will be doing more of the same in 2023. I’m now also an associate member at the Penwith Society of Arts in Cornwall. I’m busy creating handmade prints and art to fill the virtual shelves of my new Etsy shop so please follow my shop and cheer me on my way. I’m often asked what my favourite print process is and it will depend on when I’m asked and the temperature in my studio. I love the flexibility that screen printing offers and the detail that can be captured through the etching process. I’m drawn to the playfulness of mono printing and collagraphs and natural processes such as cyanotype. Basically, I love roaming around the many printing techniques and what I choose to use will depend on how I wish to develop my sketchbook ideas. I try to use sustainable materials and found objects as they can provide lots of inspiration. My favourite spots for sketching are meandering through Epping Forest and sitting on a rock on the beach in Cornwall. I’m drawn to the abstract and am influenced by the St. Ives artists particularly Dame Barbara Hepworth and Patrick Heron. I top up my inspiration with regular courses at the St Ives School of Painting where the excellent tutors provide lots of catalysts for developing my work.
