Celebrating the Odd...
Are they orphans or happy wanderers? Both I suppose. They are pumpkins that have outlasted all since of usefulness, but are still going about their lives.... taking tea, wandering the woods, concocting potions in the secret pumpkin garden.
Potion bottles, the sound of bat wings fluttering by on a crisp Michigan night, the poetry of pumpkins sitting together sipping tea or sharing nip of absinthe…. These are the things of magic and when brewed together they create something quite unique.
My work is a bit like a marriage of vintage embellishment and Merry Halloween. I create one of a kind Pumpkin dolls in my Battle Creek, Michigan studio. My pumpkin dolls have been featured in national publications and are coveted by collectors throughout Europe and the United States. It’s a bit nice to have people like what I create and appreciate my odd sense of the art doll!
Prim Pumpkins are little personalities; some disagreeable, some precocious but all a bit wise. Each one a unique art doll, created one at a time in my home studio. Each doll comes to life under my hands as I sculpt them out of my very own handmade clay potion. Faces form slowly sometimes, deciding whether or not to reveal their trueness. Just like real people I suppose...
I list my work in my Etsy Shoppe in small collections. It feels more personal that way. I wish for good homes for each doll. I hope that price does not hold you back as a collector.
