Hi, I'm Joanne, the owner of My Little Learning Star.
I live in North Yorkshire with my husband, our four children, two dogs and a tortoise! I have over 20 years of experience in education as a primary school teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), working with children across a wide range of ages and abilities.
When our first son was diagnosed with autism, it inspired me to deepen my knowledge and understanding of special educational needs. This led me to qualify as a SENCo and subsequently become a SEND Specialist Teacher, enabling me to support children with a wide range of additional needs and their families. As the parent of children with autism, ADHD and global developmental delay, I understand first-hand the importance of creating learning opportunities that are engaging, accessible and tailored to individual needs.
I've always been passionate about helping children develop a love of learning through fun, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
In 2019, I created my very first interactive Learning Book for our then two-year-old daughter. She loved it so much that she would often choose to complete the activities independently. Around the same time, I designed visual routine charts for our son, which transformed our morning and bedtime routines by helping him become more independent. After seeing the positive impact these resources had on our own family, my husband encouraged me to make them available to help other children—and My Little Learning Star was born.
During lockdown, I expanded my range while creating resources to support our children's home learning. Since then, the collection has continued to grow and now includes personalised interactive learning books, routine charts, calendars, sequencing activities and a wide variety of reusable educational resources.
Every resource is designed to make learning fun, interactive and meaningful while supporting children of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, which is why many of my resources can be personalised to suit individual interests and learning needs. I also aim to keep my products as affordable as possible, making them accessible to families, schools and childcare settings.
