The House That Junk Built!
I have always been a Junker and I say that with pride! Many years ago you could always find me on Saturday at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Flea Market. I loved all the old junk and the history that came with it.
Fast forward several years, my sister and I were young mothers with very small children, and she wanted me to be her partner in a craft business. I thought this would be fun and I could make a little money, my husband had always said I should do something crafty in my spare time, {like I had any}.
After several years of making items from other crafters patterns I was ready to try designing my own wood crafted items. My sister had gone back to work and now my craft partner was my husband. If I could dream it up and draw it, he could make it! My three active sons were in elementary school and I had a little "spare time" to design and work on my Folk Art and My Spare Time Designs was born!
Because of my love of old junk, my designs all have a Vintage Christmas and Halloween inspiration and nostalgic style. After years of doing many successful craft shows and private trunk shows in my studio we decided it was time to move in a new direction. I had tons of original patterns in my studio so we have been working diligently to transform those rough sketches and notes into user friendly patterns.
We have been featured in Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Craft magazine twice and feel very blessed that so many beginner and professional crafters like our patterns. I am working hard on adding new patterns but my "spare time" seems to be less and less. Check back often to see what I have been doing in My Spare Time!
Thanks for visiting.
