Frequently asked questions

Are there certain kinds of stones that will work best?

You can send almost any stone or mineral to make Waystone jewelry.

For the best results, we recommend sending a hard stone that is not easily scratched. Very soft stones that are crumbling, or that you can scratch with your fingernail, will likely result in finished jewelry that is not as durable as you would like. Most small defects like chips, however, can be filled with a clear reinforcing material that you would never even know is there.

We screen incoming stones for toxic minerals, for both our own and your safety. If there is any reason why your stone is not suitable for jewelry making, we will contact you to request a new stone.

If you have a specific stone type that you have a question about, please send us a message before placi

I want to engrave something that isn’t available. Can you do that?

When you design your jewelry, you’ll have many options to add free engraving. You can enter a multi-line message, add initials for a monogram, enter the latitude and longitude where you found your stone, or even select an illustration of a tree, flower, mountain peak, or state.

If you have something in mind for your engraving that is not available out of these options, it may be possible to create custom artwork for your jewelry. Please contact us with your request and we’ll let you know if it’s something we can do and whether there would be an additional charge.

What if I don’t like how my jewelry turns out?

We sincerely hope that will never be the case! Your jewelry is custom made to your tastes, and we strive to make a stunning piece out of every stone we receive.

We cannot offer refunds for custom orders, but if you find a defect or are dissatisfied with the workmanship on your jewelry, please contact us so we can provide a remedy.
