The Story of NAF Ceramic
Hello, I'm Nursena!
I'd love to share my journey into ceramics, my life, and the story of NAF Ceramic, which began in 2019. It all started during my university years. I was in my fourth year of studying to become a kindergarten teacher, driven by the idea of spending time with children. However, during my internship, I began to realize that while enjoyable, working with children might not be something I could do for the rest of my life. Despite the uncertainty of where all my efforts would lead, I found the courage to explore other possibilities.
I soon embarked on an inner journey of self-discovery, realizing that I had a passion for crafting since childhood. I enjoyed dabbling in various crafts like jewelry design, embroidery, painting, and woodworking. If I were to pursue art, I wanted my creations to hold genuine artistic value and be long-lasting. It was around this time that my then-boyfriend, now-husband, gifted me with air-drying clay and a painting set. That was my first encounter with ceramics.
As I experimented with ceramics as a hobby, I experienced a revelation. It was a blend of modern artistry, permanence, and the freedom to design every aspect. This realization sparked my interest, and I began honing my skills. After experimenting at home, I sought formal education, taking classes and exchanging ideas with numerous ceramic artists. It was a journey of self-improvement and realization.
My husband played a significant role, despite not being directly involved in ceramics. He supported me emotionally and researched the technical aspects of the craft. Moreover, living in Kütahya, renowned for its ceramic art, provided inspiration at every corner.
After years of dedication, I finally produced my first creations. I subjected them to rigorous testing before gifting them to supportive friends as mementos. Eventually, I launched my designs on Etsy, reaching customers across five continents and over 15 countries.
Now, I'm living the life I once dreamt of. I carved this path for myself, and along the way, I've met countless individuals. Looking ahead, my dreams include establishing a large studio and teaching ceramics to both children and adults.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey. I hope my story inspires and motivates others just as it has for me.
