the seller has made an amazing item. its so beatuiful i am almost hesitant to use it as it feels more like a work of art. the seller included a practice peice and a hand made scraper. i tried the scraper on a fish skin. it was actually easyer and more effective to deflesh the fish skin with the flint scaper than either a blunt or sharp knife. the image shows the now tanned fish skin i used the scraper on. i am now using the scraper for all my defleshing projects and will use this to make more

Honestly wasn't what I was expecting for the money. My dad is into word turning and wood work so he knows his stuff, he also agreed it was rather over priced for the quality that arrived

What WERE you expecting?? The pictures are pretty clear. You're totally missing the point of the object. It's a bronze age replica tool that works incredibly well for flint knapping and this is what it's made to do! I only make these tools to help out new knappers as I couldn't find any when I started. I use exactly the same to create my pieces. Yes they are simple, hard to jazz up copper in a stick but if you want something more ornate, get Daddy to make it. I value my time more than £7.50 an hour and I'd suggest most people on etsy do, so its probably not the market place for you.

Prehistoric Recreation Pieces

I have a deep interest in the prehistoric archaeology of Britain. Finding lots of flint artifacts in my local area led me to want to understand more about how our ancestors lived.

Flintknapping gives me a direct link into the minds of the people who lived here over 7000 years ago and a better understanding of how flint was used in every day tasks from piercing holes for stitching, to felling great Oak trees.

The objects I create take time and patience (not to mention the inevitable loss of blood), but it can be very meditative. Each one is an individual and I hope these pieces will inspire in an educational and artistic way.
