Frequently asked questions

What are the pieces made of?

Each piece is handcrafted primarily from latex, carefully shaped and layered by hand. The surface is finished with acrylics and protective coatings to achieve the look of aged metal or leather while remaining lightweight and flexible to wear.

Are the pieces safe for latex allergies?
The latex is sealed beneath layers of acrylic and finish. However, I cannot guarantee that the pieces are suitable for those with latex sensitivities.

How does sizing & fit work?

Most pieces are designed with an adjustable closure (string), allowing them to be comfortably worn by a range of sizes. This ensures a flexible and secure fit without compromising the shape of the design.

When a piece has a more specific or fixed sizing, this will always be clearly noted in the individual listing.

All measurements are provided in centimeters (cm). For reference, 1 inch = 2.54 cm. If you are based in the US and would like help converting a size or checking fit, you are always welcome to reach out before purchasing

Why does the back of the piece look unfinished or irregular?

The reverse side reflects the nature of the handmade process. During sculpting and layering, textures and marks naturally form on the inside. This does not affect the strength or wearability of the piece and remains unseen when worn.

Because every work is made individually from scratch, slight variations and natural imperfections are part of its character.

How do I care for my piece?

Allow the piece to either rest in its natural form or following the curve it takes when worn.
While it can withstand gentle bending, avoid excessive or unnatural folding beyond its intended shape.

To clean, gently wipe with a soft damp cloth using only water. Avoid soap, as it may leave residue.

Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat sources, as this can affect the material over time.

The material may feel firmer in cold temperatures. Warming it gently between your hands will restore flexibility. Do not use external heat.

If needed, you may lightly mist the fabric side, if your piece has one, with diluted vinegar and allow it to air dry fully.

Is it waterproof? Can I swim with it?

Each piece is water-resistant.
Some wearers choose to use their pieces in water, and merfolk in particular have worn them while swimming for years. However, the pieces were not specifically designed to be fully waterproof, and regular or prolonged exposure to water may gradually affect the paint, finish, or overall lifespan.

If you choose to wear your piece in water, this is at your own discretion.

After exposure to water:
• Gently pat dry with a soft cloth
• Allow to air dry completely in a shaded, well-ventilated place before storing

Once fully dry, the piece will return to its natural form.

If color or paint does fade over time, it can be refreshed with acrylic paint if desired.

Do you ship internationally? Will I need to pay import fees?

Yes, I ship internationally.

Orders are sent Delivered At Place (DAP), meaning any import duties, taxes, or customs fees are the responsibility of the buyer. I recommend checking with your local customs office prior to purchase.
