It began with one Appaloosa
In 2004, I wanted an Appaloosa decal for my truck. I did not like what was being sold, mostly because it looked like a negative (black butt with white spots=weird Appy). I decided to draw my own Appaloosa decal and have it printed at a local shop. First day I drove to the barn sporting my new decal, all my barn buddies started bugging me to make one for them . Then someone said, "I bet you can sell these on eBay." I posted my designs and they sold well.
In 2005 I was laid off from my job of 15 years, so I used my 6 weeks of unemployment to try and make a go of it. I spent every waking moment drawing animals and building a website. It worked. By the end of six weeks I had enough in sales to match my salary at my office job (which is not a lot as they never did pay me well).
At first I only drew and sold horse designs, hence the name NickerStickers®, as the welcoming sound of a horse is called a nicker. But people requested more, so I drew everything anyone asked for. I still do. Have a breed we don't carry? Just ask.
Today we have our own print shop and employ three wonderful people. We sell all over the world and are in over 50 pet stores. We use only the best vinyl, purchased locally, and hire from our local community. Our products are 100% USA quality - NOT made in China!
I draw new designs as often as I can, and we have another staff person who is an artist and contributes to our catalog as well. If you have an idea for a breed we should add, please let us know.
