Nonscio is derived from a desire to never stop learning and share as much knowledge as possible. As long as Andrés can remember he has always had a curiosity for experimenting and creating. As a kid he would take things apart just to see what was inside, sometimes putting them back together as was, creating something new entirely, or just leaving a mess of parts. This trend has stayed with Andrés throughout his life whether it be in the classroom, workplace, or at home. While at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, Andrés co-founded an aerial imaging company that conducted aerial surveys and produced marketing and advertising footage for real estate agencies and other organizations. As part of Bird’s Eye AP, Andrés designed and built custom UAV systems to meet the needs of the business. Andrés took the knowledge he had gained about UAV systems and drones and shared extensively with Rollins’’ Computer Science Club over the course of several meetings and workshops. Andrés continued to mentor peers through the Computer Science Club, the schools Peer Tutoring Program, and as a teaching assistant.

Andrés then moved on to a career as a software engineer with Lockheed Martin and spent the next few years working with simulations, data fusion, and prototype development. While at Lockheed, he continued his passion for sharing knowledge by facilitating workshops and projects with Lockheed Martin’s internship programs.

After a few years at Lockheed Martin, Andrés took a leap of faith and joined his family’s business as a construction project manager. He spent the next two years working in the field managing a team of skilled tradesmen, supervisors, and contractors to execute construction projects all while introducing technologies and automations to build more efficiencies into the business. Through relationships he developed with many of the people he worked with Andrés discovered that there is a significant amount of interest in technology and STEM fields, but gateway access to many of those subjects can be difficult to come by.

In 2020, Nonscio was founded with the goal of developing a pipeline designed to provide access to introductory and advanced STEM education through online content and open source kits thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity and innovation.

Nonscio offers products that are carefully designed to provide the most educational value, while being cost efficient, super cool, and most importantly fun! In addition to the kits, we are constantly producing guides, video tutorials, information articles, and more to share knowledge that we have gained along the way. Nonscio’s digital content (Videos, manuals, code repositories, and more) is available for anyone to use for their own project, or to complement a Nonscio kit. Nonscio partners with schools, local clubs and organizations to provide curated kits, lessons plans, content, and workshops to students, teachers, professionals, and anyone who is curious about what they can achieve with the technology we have at our fingertips (literally).

Our Robotics Kits are designed with the complete beginner in mind. The tutorials and manuals will walk you through the basics of building a robot, setting up an environment to program it, and writing code to interact with and control a robot. The kits are not just for complete beginners and will keep an experienced programmer or engineer engaged and inspired as there are an infinite number of possible modifications that can be made beyond the basic tutorials offered.

As a small, owner managed business, Nonscio prides itself on product quality and customer satisfaction all while maintaining a conscious effort to protect our plant so that our future engineers and entrepreneurs can flourish and carry on the same ideals. We source high quality parts that are built to last. We want you to buy a robot kit and have the ability to upgrade it to your hearts desire without ever having to replace a part. We use sustainably sourced and biodegradable components (engineered to not affect performance) where possible and minimized and recyclable packaging.

All of our products are designed and produced in house in Denver, CO. We custom design and 3D print components specifically designed to be modular and reusable to give you the most out of each kit.

At Nonscio, we are constantly experimenting, innovating, and building. As we continue to develop platforms and content to share with you, we are constantly learning what’s next and brainstorming how to best present these ideas. We will continue to partner with schools and organizations to develop workshops, kits, and customized experiences to best serve you. We have made a detailed plan to continue developing platforms to share knowledge of topics such as Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Flight Control and Dynamics, Environmental Mapping, and so many more.
