Hi! I'm Tara.
Ik ben al jaren een gewone borduurster, maar in mijn 'echte leven' werk ik als operaregisseur op grote en kleine podia door het hele land. Op 13 maart 2020 werd de operawereld hard getroffen door Covid, en binnen 24 uur werd meer dan 80% van mijn jaarinkomen weggevaagd toen ik de ene na de andere annulering hoorde. Het was een periode van shock, rouw en veel zelfreflectie.
Toevallig pakte ik het borduren weer op. Ik dacht: "Misschien vinden andere mensen mijn kleine krabbeltjes wel leuk", en ik activeerde mijn Etsy-account. Nou... dat heb je gedaan! Eén canvas tegelijk kwamen prachtige borduursters naar me toe en hielpen me al mijn angsten weg te nemen over hoe ik deze tijd ooit zou overleven.
De afgelopen jaren heb ik talloze uren aan mijn keukentafel doorgebracht, waar ik met een dankbaar hart kleine stipjes op canvas schilderde. Ik ben zo verbaasd over de vaardigheid en toewijding van de getalenteerde borduursters die ik heb ontmoet, en het is een eer om mijn creatieve dromen met jullie allemaal te delen.

I’ve been a casual needlepointer for years, but in my “real life” I work as an opera director on stages large and small all around the country. On March 13, 2020, Covid hit the opera world HARD, and in the space of 24hrs, over 80% of my income for the year was wiped out as I learned of one cancellation after another. It was a time of shock and mourning and a lot of introspection.
By chance, I picked up needlepoint again. I thought “maybe other people might enjoy my little doodles,” and I fired up my Etsy account. Well… you did! One canvas at a time, beautiful stitchers reached out and helped erase all the fear I had about how I might possibly make it through this time.
For the last several of years, I have spent countless hours at my kitchen table, painting tiny little dots on canvas with a heart full of gratitude. I am so amazed at the skill and dedication of the talented stitchers I have met, and it is an honor to share my creative dreams with you all.
