My Salty History
Hi! I'm Brenda, and yes, I am a small blonde! When I was (16), my future mother-in-law gave me a little pink glass dish that she had purchased at an antique shop in Cape Cod, MA. It was adorable, and she explained that it was a, "salt dish." As a teen in the 1980s, I had no idea what that meant, but I kept it on my dresser as a cute keepsake. Fast-forward a few years, and I happened to stumble across an entire showcase of similar little dishes in a local shop, and I made the connection! I immediately purchased a few so my lone salt dish had some friends. In the 1990s came the the World Wide Web and my salt collection began to grow. As an online buyer, I quickly learned that sometimes I had to buy an entire lot of little salts to get the one or two pieces I was interested in. My husband suggested that I try selling the doubles and extra pieces, which is what I did. Over the past thirty years, I've met tons of other collectors, joined clubs, engaged in chat forums and created websites specifically for salt collectors. I also actively purchase both individual pieces and large collections to trade, resell or keep for myself. So that's my salt story! :)
Oh, and I taught high-school art for thirty years (retired in 2025), have a husband, two teenage boys, three cats and a dog. Thanks for reading!
