Magpie-eyed finder of vintage nice things, designer of new nice things, re-user and recycler of old nice things.
Sustainable, beautiful, unique furniture, homeware and gifts.
I've always been able to walk into a shop, charity shop, jumble sale or flea market and spot the beautiful pieces. The silk blouse in the sea of polyester, or '70s wine glasses amongst the supemarket stuff.
In 2019 I took a break from a 20+ year career in marketing and focused on a huge renovation project, during which we tried to keep as much as we could out of landfill. We reused as much as we could; sold the slates to a windmill renovation, lifted and cleaned the original quarry tiles, saved the 100 year old pine roof timbers and made pantry shelves, a huge dining table and more. Our 1930's bungalow (@hereathillcroft on Instagram for those who are interested), is now an extended house, and we've found ourselves with materials on our hands. So we've set about designing some nice things made from the old, using the workshop, tools and skills from our big build.
Add to that a collection of vintage fabric, glassware, mirrors and more, plus lighting and
auction buys, and our bungalow was bursting at the seams.
So Only Nice Things was born, in an effort to share the joy of vintage, reclaimed and just plain beautiful things. All the while being as sustainable as possible.

Welcome to Only Nice Things. We love the history and nostalgia of vintage, and the stories that handmade items can bring.
In 2019 we started a massive renovation project on our home, and discovered a love for vintage treasure in the process. We reused as much as we could from the original house, bought a lot of vintage in keeping with the period of the house, and tried to keep what we could out of landfill.
When the project was finished, we found ourselves with materials on our hands. So we set about designing lovely new things made from the old, using the workshop, tools and skills from our build. Add to that a collection of vintage fabric, glassware, mirrors and more, plus lighting and auction buys, and our bungalow was bursting at the seams.
So Only Nice Things was born, in an effort to share the joy of vintage, reclaimed and just plain beautiful things. It's also really important to us to be as sustainable as possible in our operations. We don't use plastic, unless it's reusing bubble wrap that still has life in it, and all our packaging can all be reused, then recycled or composted.
For larger items like furniture we can arrange viewing by appointment to our premises in East Yorkshire.
We have high standards, so if its not good enough then we just wont sell it. That means no cracks in our stoneware, very little damage but sometimes that's unavoidable on a particularly beautiful piece, and you can rely on our photos and descriptions being accurate.
We also source for the trade; interior designers, prop houses, hotel and retail design. If you're looking for something specific, we'll try our best to help.
