From our home to yours

We did not have this business before Etsy. A friend in Chicago told me about Etsy back in 2010. We started our Etsy shop in 2011, refinishing mid century furniture out of our tiny 2 bedroom 800 sq ft home in Vancouver, WA. We didn't have a garage or a shop so we turned our 2nd bedroom into a work space. After a year or so of refinishing vintage furniture we decided it was becoming difficult to find affordable pieces. We both lost our jobs during the economy crash and really needed to figure out a way to make a living. We would not be building furniture today if Etsy wasn't here!

So anyway......Randall said, "I can probably make this!" We found a tiny record stand at a garage sale and so Randall studied it and built a similar design, adding our own unique touch. People immediately starting ordering them. That turned into people wanting media stand and coffee tables and other household furniture. Our tiny 2nd bedroom turned into a real woodworking shop! We had a table saw in there and everything! The living room was our shipping area. Things got a bit crazy, so once business became more real, we purchased a shed and put it in the back yard. That shed became our wood shop for quite a while.

After a few years of building furniture out of a shed, we were finally able to purchase a larger house with a larger work space. Today, we happily live and work in Toledo, WA! We moved to a tiny little town in the country and we have a shop the size of a 1.5 car garage and a large utility room. Randall builds furniture in the garage and I do the finishing work and packaging / shipping out the utility room that is near the garage.

We have learned a lot since 2011! When we started, we had zero experience with woodworking. Since 2011, we have learned the "do's and don'ts" of furniture making and furniture shipping. We now have the experience that provides high quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service! You can always count on us for quality and reliability! We were one of the first mid century modern furniture makers to find our way to Etsy.

Thank you so much for choosing us! When you shop with us you really are shopping small. Most furniture makers have large shops with employees. We do everything ourselves! From gathering supplies and picking out lumber to taping up the boxes. We do it all!

We enjoy working from home, we get to spend time with our 4 amazing dogs. In 2017 we had 3 dogs, but we lost our 15 year old Jack Russell named Tupper in early 2018. He had doggy dementia and he slowly slipped away. He was so special and the loss was so difficult to recover from. We ended up adopting 2 puppies to help fill the giant hole that was left in our hearts. 4 dogs and 2 acres of land is now what we call home.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

Returns and exchange details
In the furniture business returns can be tricky due to the size and fragile nature of the items. We cannot accept returns on items with custom colors, custom shelving, etc.... If the furniture was built to fit your specific needs or paint colors, we cannot accept a return because it would be difficult to resell to someone that has those same specific needs.

If you would like to return your furniture, you will have to package it and pay for return shipping. Once the item is received we will refund your order amount minus the shipping charges. If the item arrives damaged, we might deduct damages from the refund, depending on the extent of the damage. Please package very carefully if you are returning your order.

You must message us first to find out if you qualify for a return. We will work with you if you are unhappy with your purchase.
Full payment is due at time of order placed. We accept credit cards via Etsy direct checkout and PayPal. Your credit card will be charged at the time of the order.

Once your payment has been submitted you will be placed next in line and all orders are built in the order of received. When your order is preparing to ship, you will get tracking info uploaded to your order.
When your order ships, you will be notified with tracking #'s. We ship via Fedex. We have found that they are the best at handling our furniture. We rarely encounter damage claims. We package each piece with the highest amount of care to ensure safe delivery.

Our shipping times range from 1 month to 6 months. Each item for order in our shop will say how long to expect. Coffee tables without drawers or doors have the smallest time.

IF you do receive a damaged shipment, send us a message with photos right away. We will file a claim for you. Damages shipments, depending on the circumstances and the severity will get a full refund, partial refund or full replacement. That will be determined after the claim has been filed. All shipments are insured and FedEx will determine what the reimbursement will be for a damage claim.
Additional policies and FAQs
We only use solid wood for the structure of our furniture. We do not use particle board, ever! We do use quality birch plywood for backs and doors. We never use plywood for the structure of the furniture, as veneer will chip on corners and edges leaving unsightly chunks missing from the beautiful finish. Pine will not chip as it's solid through to the cord. If it gets damaged, because its wood all the way through, it's easily repaired.

The birch ply doors and drawer faces along with the solid pine, gives a beautiful wood grain contrast, keeping our furniture more modern looking than other pine furniture. Our pine furniture does not look rustic or outdated.
We never share your information with anyone. Your email address, address, name, payment info, etc... We do not share info with ANYONE

Custom and personalized orders

We love custom orders! Send us a message with what you want and if we can build it, we will! Send photos, drawings, dimensions, etc.... We NEVER charge extra for custom. We only charge extra or charge less if dimensions or additions change enough to alter the price up or down.

How do I clean my furniture?

We use a low voc water based polyurethane to finish our furniture. This provides a smooth finish that brings out the beauty in the wood and is great for standing up to moisture. It doesn't have a strong odor like lacquer does. Simply wipe clean with a water damp rag or use wood cleaner, such as Murpheys orange or Method almond wood cleaner. We also like to use the natural disinfecting wipes, they work great too. Do not use abrasive cleaners or sponges.

What if my shipment arrives damaged?

Damage rarely happens because we package very well. If it does happen, we don't make you file the claim because we are the shipper and the shipper files the claim. All shipments are insured. Any damage claims will be handled on a case by case basis. If your furniture does arrive damaged, take photos right away of the damage and the packaging. Repair kit, partial compensation, full compensation or a replacement will be issued, depending on the circumstances. Compensation will be determined by FedEx insurance claim specialist, once the claim is processed.

What wood types do you use?

Timber is usually classified as either hardwood, from broad leafed trees like beech and oak, or softwood from conifers like pine and fir. Simply because they're replaceable, fast-growing species like pine trees tend to be more sustainable than slow-growing trees like oak and walnut.

We use solid pine: From pine we create quality affordable solid wood furniture.

ETA's and Turn Around Time

Our turn around times can vary. We continue to receive new orders daily. It can be difficult to determine when your order will ship but we do our best to keep it around 30 to 90 days for smaller items and around 90 to 120 days for larger items. Sometimes we encounter delays, as we are only human. You are welcome to check in with us regarding your order and we might be able to provide an ETA. We promise to ship all orders as soon as we can. No slacking here! :)

Can I cancel my order?

We are a very tiny business and cancellations do financially hurt us but you are welcome to cancel your order, just send us a message. If we have not yet started building your order, we can cancel and fully refund.

How much weight does your furniture hold?

Our furniture holds the weight of what it is intended for. Do not sit, stand or use the furniture in any other way than what we have described it to be used as.

Desks: computers, lamps, keyboards, electric pianos, books...
Sofa tables: lamp, decor items, books...
Bookshelves: books, lamps, decor items...
Record cabinets: records, books, lamps...
Coffee tables: books, computers, rest feet and legs on...
End tables: lamps, books, decor items...

How are your prices so low?

We want to offer solid wood furniture that doesn't cost much more than the particle board / plywood stuff. We do not have employees, we do not have a store, we do not have a shop. We work from our small garage from our home out in the countryside. We keep our production costs low so we can keep our prices low. We don't have overhead costs. There's no middle man here! You purchase and talk directly with the owners and creators.

It's just the 2 of us designing, building and shipping.

Do you accept rush orders?

We cannot accept rush orders. Please be prepared to wait the disclosed turn around time for each item. We always have over 100 orders in line, so everything is first come first serve. It isn't always fair to those that have been waiting longer.
