Handmade Home Goods Rooted in Dutch Design and Sustainable Craftsmanship
I’m Anneke, the maker behind Ordinary Dutch Studio. My work is guided by a simple belief: design should bring calm, texture, and honesty into the spaces we live in.
Each piece I create — from wool lamps and acoustic panels to seasonal décor like stockings and wreaths — is designed and made by hand in Canada. My Dutch heritage and background in architecture influence everything I do: clean lines, functional beauty, and materials that feel grounded and real.
This studio grew from an unexpected life change after my child’s diagnosis with hypermobility and dyslexia. That shift led me to slow down, to reconnect with craft, and to build something meaningful with my hands. What began as a change in direction evolved into a return to purpose — creating objects that convey warmth, integrity, and intention.
At Ordinary Dutch Studio, sustainability is more than a concept — it’s a practice. I use natural, renewable, or repurposed materials whenever possible, as I believe that well-made things should last. Each design celebrates the quiet richness of wool, linen, and felt — materials that bring softness and strength to the home.
