Darrah was inspired to begin creating her own line of jewelry when flipping through an InStyle magazine back in 2001. She got her first strand of beads, some copper wire and some scissors (yes, SCISSORS!!) and gave it a whirl. After the first necklace was completed, albeit a bit of a mess, and with many callouses, Otis B Jewelry was born.
Directly after, much studying and research was done into the proper way to create and assemble gemstone jewelry (thank goodness!)
Darrah went out and visited gem shows and showrooms, procuring the best semi precious stones and hardware she could find, all while building relationships with reputable vendors from around the globe.
Fast forward to 2008, an Etsy shop was created and we've been proudly selling here ever since.
The legal and true working name of the company, Otis B, is actually named after someone else...and is a very long story, which we shall spare you from...you're welcome.
The road to growing Otis B Jewelry has been a long one, it has not been easy, it has taken an enormous amount of effort, patience and some serious determination, as well as many sleepless nights and work-filled weekends. The company now employs a handful of women, one of which was just a baby when this shop was established (Dianna!)
