Sewing and Creating are favorite things to do. Who knows what will come out of the Sewing Box?
Hi! Welcome to my shop! I LOVE creating new things! I sew many evenings as my husband is often busy grading college students homework. There is plenty of time and a great spare bedroom/sewing room. ( advisory: It is more sewing room than spare bedroom. I now warn my company to give me plenty of notice if they are coming to stay so I can "shovel out" the bed from the sewing creativity bursting out all over.
Actually, with all my sewing going on, the bed is on end against the wall. And *** a quilting tip, Upend your guest bed - Mattress first, then box springs with the cloth side out. Pin the plastic side of a flannel backed tablecloth to the up-ended box springs. Spray the flannel side (outside please!) with quilt basting adhesive. I lay out all my quilts on it to see what looks best. Works really well and my quilt pieces cling to the adhesive over and over again. AWESOME.
Taking pieces of material and creating, mixing colors, fabrics, patterns and coming up with a new and beautiful sewn piece is so much fun. I'm never quite sure what sewn item may come "Out of the Sewing Box". Each fabric seems to bring new ideas for potholders, quilts, children's clothes, and puppets.
Puppets...now your really have my attention. I have worked in volunteer positions for 20 some years with black light puppetry. That is SO fun. Creating funny characters from all sorts of materials. My latest fun that way is carving faces in soft pillow foam 4 inches thick. Making the faces realistic and then spreading tub and window sealant over the foam to create a flexible but stronger face. I mix paint is the sealant before spreading it on. By slitting the back of the foam, top and bottom, and inserting your fingers and thumb, you can create some hilarious looks. So cool. I then finish the puppet by sewing a creative costume for it.
Now, I just need for you to really really want a bunch of all these creative things piling up in my "sewing room" so I have more room to create new stuff!!! Help! That's really the "why" of my Etsy shop. I must thin out that pile of created stuff! It is just too much fun to quit!
Come on in and take a look, and not just a look, but make some of these sewing things yours. Thanks for coming over! Come again!
