PACES Publishing Company is part of Parent and Child Educational Services, Inc. (PACES).
We began writing and publishing study guides in 2008 for students in our PAideia Classical School program, and we are thrilled to offer them for sale to use in your own educational pursuits. Whether for a single homeschooling family, a small or large homeschool group or co-op, a private or public school, these study guides not only are an excellent learning tool, they provide a biblical perspective and help students understand literature and begin to form their own worldviews.
Our guides are specific to a student's level from the early and late grammar years through the dialectic stage and then to the final rhetoric years. The content focusses on skills and subject matter relative to either English (red guides) or Culturaltive History (blue guides). They provide background information on the book and author and are separated into weekly assignments.
Each week's assignment has homework including:
-Vocabulary
-Charts and/or Maps
-Parent Discussion
-Comprehension
Some guides also include composition and other activities. Additionally, the week includes classroom discussion and activities.
Parent discussion provides an opportunity to understand the reading and formulate family values and views. Student understanding of the reading is shown through answering the Comprehension questions. In class, students synthesize the material using the Classroom Discussion resulting in an even greater understanding of either the historical or literary impact of the work.
