PICCSTARS ROCK!
Hello! I am a mom of 3 kiddos who loves to sew. For years, my sister and I have blogged our home sewn garments at www.HungieGungie.com. In 2014, my youngest child, Wes, was diagnosed with Stage IV neuroblastoma at the age of 15 months. Suddenly, I became a "cancer mom" and was forced live in the tragic and triumphant world of pediatric cancer. Wes went through chemo, surgery, stem cell transplant, radiation, and immunotherapy, and is considered CURED (after 5+ years without relapse). Normal life has returned to us, but the impact of our journey is ever present. The warrior children we have met are unforgettable.
I invented "Sleevies" to protect the IV tubes (PICC line) that hung from Wes' arm as he toddled around the hospital and at home. It worked for us, so I shared them with other children at our home hospital. They were well loved!
Later, when Wes had a central line, or broviac, in his chest, I created "Pocket Tanks" to keep the dangling tubes out of the way. It was a simple and inexpensive solution! Plus, all PICCSTAR products are machine washable.
My goal with PICCSTAR is to be affordable and fun! Switch em out, match them with your mood. Every smile is important when a child is dealing with a serious illness. I hope that my products will generate a few.
Go ahead, ROCK that PICC!
