New projects often start with a series of handmade paper collages that capture moods as well as colours and shapes. The analogous cutting results into irregular shapes, which are set in relation to each other by overlays and negative forms. These illustrations serve as a template for patterns or knitting motifs. They get translated into textiles by filling these shapes with various materials.

My favourite knitting technique is intarsia. Even on the knitting machine it is a very hand manipulated process and knitting intarsia by hand means you need a lot of patience for untangling the balls for all the fields of colour. It is all worth it, because intarsia can create a spontaneity and irregularity that I like to work with.
