Pack & Alley's is Fun, Found and Fabulous!
My wonderful mother was a picker long before it was fashionable. She taught me everything she knew about vintage and antiques, especially glassware and dishes. Collecting, hunting and discovering was a joy we shared. She always dreamed we would open a shop together. In her memory, I created Pack & Alley's.
Although being a yard sale and thrift store warrior didn't start out as my passion, I grew to love it. I remember many times laying on the backseat of our station wagon trying to stay out of sight as my mother went around neighborhoods to garage sale after garage sale. When I was an infant, our church held its first White Elephant sale and my mother, with me in tow, was running the show. But soon, I was along side her helping to set up and right in the middle of the action. It became our rite of spring.
Despite my youthful angst, there was no denying that I shared her passion for nostalgia and the beauty of preserving the past. She had a keen fashion sense and a style that was effortless but lovely. When I became a designer I created a signature aesthetic that always incorporated old and new, told a story or gave a sense that there was something deeper than the surface. I thank her for that gift and the fire for looking deeper into the past to create a look that continues a story and holds the future of possibility.
