Who Knew!!
Siéntese, relájese y tome un cóctel porque esto podría llevar un tiempo ...
Al crecer como artista, mi medio eran los lápices. Dibujé más retratos que otra cosa. A la edad de 15 años me detuve.... no estoy seguro de por qué. Realmente nunca toqué un lápiz o pintura hasta casi 15 años después.
En este tiempo era dueño de una empresa de pintura de casas. Los días consistían en pintar paredes, adornos y techos. Realmente inspirador, ¿verdad? En realidad podría haber sido. Pasar estos días pintando paredes lisas realmente me aburrió. En ese momento trabajé con algunos diseñadores de alta gama e hice algunos proyectos realmente geniales para clientes muy ricos y famosos. Entrar en estas casas o en los estudios de diseñadores y ver la decoración comenzó a inspirarme. Un día me fui a casa y empecé a pintar.
Terminé mi primera pintura y obtuve el aspecto de "qué demonios es esa cosa" de mi esposa. Tomé la pintura y la escondí en un armario porque realmente me gustó. Unos meses más tarde, un buen amigo mío se acercó y le dije que finalmente hice una pintura. Al instante dijo que quería verlo. Lo saqué de su lugar escondido y se lo mostré. ¡Le encantó! Él dijo : "¡Tienes que vender esto, la gente compraría esto!" Lo que me dijo se quedó en mi mente durante unas semanas y luego finalmente fui a por ello. Lo publiqué en Craigslist y en un día se vendió. Me quedé en shock. ¡Acababa de vender mi primera pintura!
¡A partir de ese momento me enganché! Compré pintura como si estuviera pasando de moda. Compré lienzos en todos los tamaños, y más pinceles de los que podría usar. Tenía un paño de gota que colocaba en el suelo y pintaba en mis rodillas todas las noches. ¡Siguieron vendiendo, y vendiendo! De hecho, tomé esa vieja tela de gota y la estiré alrededor de un marco para preservar mi comienzo en la pintura. Todavía lo poseo hasta el día de hoy. Un lienzo cubierto de pintura con nada más que pintura por todas partes. Mis primeras 50 pinturas comenzaron en esta tela de gota. (echa un vistazo a la foto de la misma en las fotos de la tienda) En el primer año vendí cerca de 100 pinturas en Craigslist. ¡¡Tiempo para galerías!! ¡Pronto habrá más!

Growing up as an artist, my medium was pencils. I drew more portraits than anything. At about the age of 15 I stopped....not sure why. I never really touched a pencil or paint until almost 15 years later.
In this time I owned a house painting company. Days consisted of painting walls, trim, and ceilings. Real inspiring right? Actually it might have been. Spending these days painting plain walls really bored me. At the time I worked with a few high end designers and did some really cool projects for very wealthy and famous clients. Going into these homes or the designers studios and seeing the decor started to inspire me. One day I went home and just started to paint.
I finished my first painting and got the "what the hell is that thing" look from my wife. I took the painting and hid it in a closet because I actually really liked it. A few months later a good friend of mine came over and I told him I finally did a painting. Instantly he said I want to see it. I pulled it out of it's hidden place and showed him. He loved it! He said " you have to sell this, people would buy this!" What he said to me stuck in my mind for a few weeks and then I finally went for it. I posted it on Craigslist and within a day it was sold. I was shocked. I had just sold my first painting ever!
From that point I was hooked! I bought paint like it was going out of style. I bought canvases in every size, and more brushes then I could ever use. I had a drop cloth that I laid out on the floor and painted on my knees every night. They kept selling, and selling! I actually took that old drop cloth and stretched it around a frame to preserve my start in painting. I still own it to this day. A paint covered canvas with nothing but paint all over it. My first 50 paintings started on this drop cloth. (check out the photo of it in the shop photos) In the first year I sold close to 100 paintings on Craigslist. Time for galleries!! More coming soon!
