Patchcraft Quilts started in 1978 in our house. My mom opened the shop the way a lot of the best fabric stores do — with fabric in the rooms people actually lived in, a cutting table that doubled as the kitchen table, and quilters coming to the door at all hours because they needed that one color they ran out of.
The house didn’t stay big enough for long. A couple of years later the shop moved downtown, then expanded three times over the next three years. I was in grade school then, growing up around bolts, rotary cutters, and the sound of the manual cash register. I started sewing at age 4 and working in the store at age 6.
Those early years set the standard we still work by: stock fabrics people will actually sew, cut them with care, and treat every order with the same importance as the person who placed it.
We are online only now. The rooms and storefronts changed. The standard did not. Patchcraft Quilts is still a family shop built around quilting fabric chosen for color and quality.
We ship from that same tradition — curated quilting fabrics, honest yardage guidance, and the extras that get a quilt finished. You shop from home. We still pack like the order is heading to someone we know.
We stock fabrics we would use ourselves: quilting cottons, solids that hold a collection together, prints with enough character to carry a block, and the backing and notions that keep a project from stalling.
