Natural soaps for everyone
Since having kids (I am a mommy to 3 adorable little boys), I have become more concerned about the ingredients in products we use to wash our bodies and clothes. All those harsh ingredients and synthetic detergents... no thank you! When I make soap, I know exactly what goes in it. And it's all natural, good for your skin and the environment.
Most commercial soap makers take out the natural moisturizing glycerin from their soap to sell separately. With handmade soap, the glycerin remains in the soap to help moisturize your skin. Commercial soaps also usually have synthetic ingredients to boost bubbles and lather, but natural soaps made with the right balance of oils will lather great without any additional help.
I choose not to use palm oil in my products because of the deforestation controversy surrounding it. As an alternative, I use tallow, which is often just discarded anyway by the butcher. Tallow is probably what your great great grandmother used to make soap! It makes a nice hard, creamy, moisturizing bar.
