Pelham Goods - Handmade in Chile
About us
We are a small design studio founded by Flavia Maguida and Alejandro Leiva in 2012, based in Santiago – Chile. We make everything by hand in our studio: we draw, paint, sew, stitch, knit, print, screen print, solder and package each one of our products. In our shop you’ll iPhone cases and stationery, everything is printed by us with our illustrations. You can visit our website to find out more about our creative process.
At Pelham Goods we don’t settle for the ordinary, this is why we tirelessly seek and build elements that help us create a life that is an expression of ourselves and our individuality, from what we wear to where we live. This is why we create everyday products that deliver value through great craftsmanship.
About our cases
In 2012 we started making iPhone cases when we realized we couldn’t find any that would reflect our taste. Our phones are with us all day long so we didn’t want to cover them with a mass produced product that had no value to us. So joining both of our mayors (Fashion Design / Graphic Design) we reached a new concept: the case as a fashion accessory. We base our illustrations on fashion and graphic design trends, we look for inspiration mainly on fabric prints, conceiving the case as a complement to our outfits.
In our shop you’ll find different styles of illustration because of our different personalities: Alejandro is a little obsessive with order and cleaning so he prefers to do digital illustrations with geometric elements; meanwhile I’m more of a detail freak and kind of a dreamer so I rather do hand drawn illustrations.
Each one of our cases is carefully hand printed by us in our studio, so we make sure that the colors match our original artwork and do all quality inspections. The printing is made over a metal cover with a process that ensures a high quality and long lasting print. Then a shimmery protective shield is applied to prevent fade and scratches. The printed metal cover is then placed in the case and the final product is polished for maximum shine.
Who is Pelham?
When we were in the process of coming up with a name for our shop, we did the same thing we used to do when we where in design school trying to name our projects, we did a marathon of Woody Allen and Alfred Hitchcock movies. That is how we found out about "The Strange Case of Mr. Pelham", an episode in Alfred Hitchcock Presents TV series.
We love selling on Etsy, it has given us the chance to reach customers all around the globe and it has been an incredible experience.
