A Physician, a Purpose…an Ocean of Hope
Hi! I’m Phoebe, a physician-writer who unexpectedly fell in love with creating sea glass jewelry. Ocean of Hope Jewelry grew from the mission at the heart of Pendants for a Cause, but the story began long before the name itself.
Pendants for a Cause was born in September 2019 from a single piece of sea glass and a simple desire to help someone in need. When Hurricane Dorian devastated parts of the Bahamas, leaving many families without adequate medical care and essential resources, I felt the deep ache of wanting to help but being too far away to offer the hands-on support my training had prepared me for.
So I asked myself: What do I have, right here, that might bring light to someone else?
What I had was sea glass, a pair of pliers, some humble wires, and a very fluffy cat named Samantha keeping me company. From those quiet beginnings, Pendants for a Cause took root.
As the mission grew, so did the creative expression behind it. Ocean of Hope Jewelry became the artisan branch of that vision, transforming sea glass shaped by the tides into meaningful pieces designed to inspire hope, compassion, and connection.
Today, Ocean of Hope Jewelry proudly supports children’s charities and organizations that help ensure children and families in need receive vital medical care, support, and resources. Every piece is created with the hope that something beautiful can also serve a greater purpose.
