Chickens, Kune Kune Pigs, and a Feedstore Hat
I have always been interested in 100% leather goods and tooled leather as a hobby during my teenage years. Flash forward many many years and I found myself raising a family on a 5 acre farm (with no idea what we are doing) and an older model laser that we had not really used for 5 years. I purchased a hat from our local feed store that had their logo in plastic "leather," and it quickly became my favorite hat. Not because it was high-quality, it wasn't; but because it symbolized who we were as a family and what journey we were on. That hat "imaged" our farm and hobbies and interest in a tiny way that the rest of the world could see.
Flash forward another year and a friend introduced us to the idea of custom leather patch hats. I had never tried to make a leather patch and was not sure how high quality of a product we could produce. We decided to take the challenge and at least make some hats for ourselves that we would be proud to wear. Over the course of countless test and failures, and late nights and burnt leather, we got better and better until we were satisfied we were making a high quality product. We started sending pictures of test patches to friends and they started asking for orders, and the next thing we knew we were starting a business.
As a small (tiny) business, we are not in it to simply make a product to make a dollar. We want to produce the highest quality 100% leather patch hats that our little farm can make; hats that represent ideas and dreams and interest that mean something to us, and to our friends and neighbors.
