greeting card (noun)
Definition of greeting card:
a piece of paper or thin cardboard having any of a variety of shapes and formats and bearing a greeting or message of sentiment
Greeting cards are so much more than a piece of thin cardboard. My greeting cards are a product of my heart. They're inspired by the words and actions of people I encounter in my daily life. They're brought to life by situations and events. Sometimes a random image I stumble upon will inspire a new card. My support and pet sympathy cards came to life while I worked through the emotions of my personal experiences. I'll usually hash out an idea for days or weeks before the greeting card makes it into my shop. I add ideas and quotes to a running note on my phone when inspiration hits me, whether it’s sitting at my desk at my day job or standing in line at the grocery store.
I started scrapbooking and card making in 1998. when my youngest was an infant. I opened this greeting card shop in October 2012, selling die cuts, gift tags and hand crafted cards. In 2019 I transitioned my shop to all printed cards. I'm a freelance graphic designer accustomed to designing print ads and magazines layouts. I relax my brain by designing simple greeting cards with silly puns and heartfelt messages. Everything in my shop is designed, printed, cut, folded, packaged and shipped by me so I can have full control of the quality and processing time.
I do all my graphic design work in Adobe Creative Cloud Pro. The majority of my work is done in InDesign but I also use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
Many of my items are designed with commercially licensed artwork that I've purchased. I also use AI as a tool to design artwork for my cards. The ideas, inspiration, and creativity are always my own. I combine all of this with my 30+ years of graphic design skills.
I live in a modest home in western Massachusetts with my husband of 35+ years and our two cats, Jack and Rosie. We're officially empty nesters now that our human children have gone off on their own. We have three adult children between us (two girls and one boy). We also have four cats waiting at the Rainbow Bridge - all loved and dearly missed. I've been a breast cancer survivor since June 2017. I enjoy reading, listening to audiobooks, and Call the Midwife on Netflix.
Etsy is a part-time gig with a full-time commitment. I can't imagine my life without my shop! Besides Etsy, I also work remotely as a freelance graphic designer, specializing in print design.
