I Just Have to Finish this Row
My initial interest in knitting came in college when I wanted the cute beanies and extra long scarves that everyone seemed to have at the time. So, I taught myself from books and magazines and trial and error (lots of error, but that's a different story), and I discovered the multiple benefits of knitting. Not only did I produce the items I wanted, but gifts for friends and family. In addition to the product, the process provided the most unexpected benefits -- a creative outlet that was lacking in other areas of my life and the calming, meditative quality of the act of knitting itself. And, of course it offers the phrase that all knitters know and that is so useful for those of us commited to putting off unwelcome tasks like housework, grocery shopping, or exercising: "I just have to finish this row".
Currently I am a one woman shop and I make the decisions, create, knit, run the shop, pack and ship myself. Everything I make is handknit by me using knitting needles (and the occasional crochet hook), no machines of any kind. Right now though, I have to go because, "I just have to finish this row".
