Hace 15 años comencé a hacer mis propias joyas. Durante años he investigado sobre la historia de Anatolia, encaje turco, ganchillos vintage, piedras semipreciosas, telas auténticas... La gente a mi alrededor comenzó a animarme a compartir mis diseños con el mundo. Después de que mi esposo y yo dejamos nuestros trabajos y vidas en la acelerada Estambul, decidimos mudarnos a la ciudad costera de Antalya, en la región mediterránea de Turquía, y abrimos nuestra tienda etsy. Aquí es cuando comienza mi colorido viaje.
Nos encanta Antalya porque es una hermosa ciudad cerca del mar Mediterráneo donde la historia y la naturaleza se unen a la perfección. Hay sitios históricos increíbles alrededor de Antalya. Muchas civilizaciones antiguas han estado aquí, incluyendo Licia, Hitita, Pamphylia, Bizantina, Selyúcida, Otomana ... Exploramos estos sitios antiguos y nos basamos en su inspiración. También buscamos diferentes tejidos tradicionales turcos que poco a poco se están olvidando. Creo que tenemos mucho que aprender de la historia antigua y el arte que nos rodea.
Nuestra intención es revivir algunos diseños olvidados del pasado mediante el uso de materiales ecológicos en joyas. La diversidad de la historia de Anatolia y las creaciones artísticas me están dando la oportunidad de utilizar diferentes técnicas y materiales. Hay una historia histórica detrás de cada diseño, como técnicas como ganchillo, serigrafía, envoltura de alambre, impresión de transferencia.
Me encanta el proceso creativo y la investigación; combinando colores y combinándolos con diferentes motivos. Siento que sigo creciendo y aprendiendo más con cada uno de mis diseños. Cada uno de mis diseños son únicos en su tipo o se producen en pequeños lotes para preservar la diversión de usar algo único y están hechos con mucho amor y mucho cuidado.

¿Cuál es el significado de Pinara?
A menudo la gente me pregunta que hay alguna relación entre mi nombre Pınar y Pinara. De hecho, estas dos palabras parecen similares, pero son palabras totalmente diferentes. Pınar significa "fuente" en idioma turco.
Pinara significa "redondo" en el idioma Lycia auxiliar y es el nombre de un hermoso sitio de Lycia en la región mediterránea de Turquía. Se estableció alrededor del siglo 5 aC en el valle de Xanthus y una de las ciudades importantes de la Federación de Licia. Su nombre hace referencia aparentemente a la forma redondeada de la colina escarpada en la que originalmente se encontraba la ciudad.

15 years ago I began to make my own jewelry. For years I have researched about Anatolian history, Turkish lace, vintage crochets, semiprecious stones, authentic fabrics... People around me began to encourage me to share my designs with the world. After my husband and I left our jobs and lives in fast paced Istanbul we decided moved to the seaside city of Antalya in Mediterranean region of Turkey and opened our Etsy shop. This is when my colorful journey begins.
We love Antalya because it's a beautiful city nearby Mediterranean Sea where history and nature come together seamlessly. There are amazing historical sites around Antalya. Many ancient civilizations have been here including Lycia, Hittite, Pamphylia, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman ... We explore these ancient sites and draw upon their inspiratıon. Also we search for different Turkish traditional fabrics which are slowly being forgotten. I think we have much to learn from ancient history and art that is around us.
Our intention is revive some forgotten designs of the past by using eco-friendly materials on jewelry. Diversity of Anatolian history and artistic creations are giving me the opportunity for using different techniques and materials. There is a historical tale behind each and every design such as techniques like crochet, screen print, wire wrap, transfer print.
I love creative process and researching; matching colors and combine them with different motifs. I feel that I am still growing and learning more with each of my designs. Each of my designs are one of a kind or produce in small batches to preserve the fun of wearing something unique and are made with lots of love and lots of care.

What's the meaning of Pinara?
Often people ask me that there is any relationship between my name Pınar and Pinara. In fact, these two words look like similar but they are totally different words. Pınar means 'fountain' in Turkish language.
Pinara means 'round' in the ancıent Lycia language and it's the name of a beautiful Lycia site in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. It was settled around 5th century BC in the Xanthus valley and one of the important cities of the Lycia Federation. Its name references apparently to the rounded shape of the precipitous hill on which the city originally stood.
