Welcome to Pink House Print Shop!
I am a Tampa based printmaker who attended the University of South Florida focusing on sculpture and ceramics. After many years working in clay, I rediscovered my love of printmaking. I has been working with reduction lino printmaking for several years. My home studio, Pink House Print Shop, is named after my pink house.
I always wanted to be an artist and when young, was usually found creating houses out of boxes or assembling found objects into elaborate patterns and designs. Creation has always been a compulsion, and I have sampled many different art forms. My work combines a love of nature and printmaking to capture the feeling of a time or a place.
My prints are drawn from the world around me. I am fascinated by nature and light, from the smallest insect to the vast sky above. My goal is to capture the feeling of a time and place to invoke an emotional response.
I love the process of printmaking, taking an idea through drawing, carving, and printing. Most of my prints are created using the reductive process where each color is printed and carved from one block. I usually start with printing the lightest color, then the block is “reduced” by carving away the areas that I want to remain that color; the process is repeated layer after layer until the final color is applied, leaving a destroyed block.
