Lots of things start with "P" but for me it's all about PAPER!
I have a real passion for paper. I've always been crafty, starting with drawing and creating greeting cards for family members at a very young age. But my love of paper arts really began in 1996 when I went along with my mom and some friends to my first rubber stamping class and I've been hooked on working with paper ever since.
I'm mostly self taught, I enjoy just picking up something new and giving it a try.
I love giving new life to old, discarded objects, especially vintage books that are unloved and falling apart so at least a part of them can once again be treasured and adored.
I've taught stamping, scrapbooking and altered arts classes for over 15 years and even owned a rubber stamp store for a few years. My work has been published in several magazines including Somerset Studio, Stamper's Sampler, Take Ten, Altered Arts, FOLK and Vamp Stamp News.
I get lots of questions about how my pendants are made so here's a little bit about soldering...The process I use to make my soldered pendants takes several steps. First my favorite part is finding just the right image in a vintage book or cutting out and piecing together a tiny collage, then I sandwich the papers between two pieces of glass. Next I wrap the edges of the glass with copper tape and using a soldering gun I melt solder over the tape. (here's where I have to admit how clumsy I am and how I very often burn myself during this part of the process:)) Then the pieces are cleaned, buffed and polished, I use solder that is lead free so it's safe wear against skin and also contains silver so they come out bright and shiny. Or for an aged look I might add a patina over the solder instead.
