Always Artsy
I have been drawing since my parents could put a pencil in my hands, that's 48 years young. I knew I wanted to be in an art field in High School but I was pretty sure I couldn't "wow" in fine arts and still be able to eat. Computer Graphics was fairly new when I decided to further my art skills in Commercial Art and Advertising. At the time Photoshop and Illustrator was just becoming a thing and the Internet was just a strange idea no one thought would go.
I LOVED it. I started really connecting with vector programs. Illustrator, Aldus Freehand (I said I was young) and CorelDraw. My first job was at 19 years old and designing apparel art for the Green Bay Packers, Miller Brewing Company, Petit National Ice Center and more. In my early 20's I married an active duty soldier. When you move every couple of years and several times in one year not many people want to hire you. I tried freelancing some for previous clients, and got a couple of jobs here and there in local screen printing shops. Our last move was in 2013 and I decided to make a go of it on my own. I started freelancing full time for 12 shops I had worked for along the way, adding in a few more with word of mouth.
I've always been sketching out thumbnails of design ideas and making hand drawn items into vectors and decided to start my Etsy shop here. It has been an amazing experience. I come with a lot of years of professional experience making print ready graphics but Etsy is where I feel I was finally able to build something bigger than myself.
