Dear Custodian,
Each talisman is lovingly washed with water from the oldest rainforest, then left to rest for at least one full year under the sun and moon.
Touched by wild storms, strong winds, fire, and the cleansing waters of tropical rain, these pieces carry the raw spirit of nature, transformation, and renewal.
Handmade with respect, patience, and intention.

Out of deep respect for Australian Indigenous people, culture, and the meaning carried by words such as “Dreaming,” I had already made the decision not to continue using the name Platypus Dreaming.
During this same time, Tamsin and I, Kaya Xan, have also chosen to go our separate ways. We will continue our paths separately, with respect for what was shared and with openness to what life brings next.
This is a new beginning.
Platypus In Return, Phoenix Within... born from ashes. Transcending is the way.
I will continue my own handmade work and sales from this new place, carrying the same spirit of creation, healing, respect, and transformation.
Please take care of yourselves. Only God knows where, when, and with whom life will carry us next.
Be part or be art,
With respect and many blessings,
Kaya Xan

🧿Care instructions for crystal necklaces! Shower or Swimming alright !
Short answer: yes * Our creations are handcrafted using the highest quality waxed strings on earth. They are designed to be long lasting and with the right care, they will maintain their original shape and colour for years to come. Platypus In Return Talismans are water resistant and feel very organic when worn against the skin. They are designed for daily use & can be worn in the shower or when swimming.
All stones have different hardness levels so please be gentle and treat them with the right level of care. They are strong but if you bang, knock or drop on hard surface they can break. Each piece is designed with longevity in mind. We only use silver and/or stainless-steel beads which will never rust or loose colour.*wood excluded.
🧿How do I care for my wood talisman?
Talismans made from wood need extra care because they’re made from organic materials that can be impacted negatively by the environment.
They require an extra level of gentleness that our crystal talismans do not. They have been constructed to last and will not crack, dent or scratch at the slightest touch. At the same time, you should take care when wearing them on a daily basis.
Wood talismans are water resistant, not waterproof! They have a thick coating to protect them, yet they’re still made of an organic material that will soak up water when immersed for too long. Please take off when you have a shower and swimming and during heavy work and sport activities.
🧿Policy on Sale Items, Custom and Personalised orders, and Cancellations
Discounts on sale items are automatically applied at checkout and no coupon codes are required.

If you would like to include a note to the receiver, please include the message at checkout with box and we will be more than happy to hand write a message for your loved one.
🧿Can I wear your talismans if I’m Muslim ?
Assalāmu ‘alaykum, Thank you so much for your question and for sharing your concerns. We want to be very clear: We do not practice black magic, we do not work with jinn or beings, and we do not claim that our talismans have supernatural powers. What we do believe is very simple: Stones are part of the natural creation as human beings. Each stone has its own natural qualities, Any benefit comes from your own intention, your connection to Allah, not from the object having power over your life. Our aim is not to replace faith, prayer, or tawakkul in Allah. You are always welcome to: Wear our pieces just as jewellery because you like the beauty of natural stones.if any of this doesn’t feel right in your heart, it’s completely okay not to buy! From Platypus Dreaming to Platypus In Return — A New Beginning
For many years, Platypus Dreaming was more than a name.
It became a home for creativity, handmade talismans, natural stones, friendships, family, community and many different people who crossed our path in the rainforest of Far North Queensland.
It was an important chapter of my life.
But everything changes.
And sometimes respecting where you have been means knowing when it's time to let something go.
This is why Platypus Dreaming is becoming Platypus In Return.
Why Leave the Name Platypus Dreaming?
Out of deep respect for Australian Indigenous peoples and cultures, and for the profound meaning carried by concepts translated into English as “Dreaming,” I had already made the decision that I didn't want to continue using the name Platypus Dreaming.
The name came from a place of appreciation and connection to the Australian landscape, but over time I became more conscious that some words carry cultural meanings much deeper than the way we may personally understand or intend them.
Respect sometimes means listening.
Sometimes it means changing.
For me, this felt like the right time to do both.
Platypus Dreaming will always represent an important part of the journey.
But it doesn't need to remain the name of the next chapter.
Why Platypus In Return?
During this same period, Tamsin and I, Kaya Xan, also chose to go our separate ways.
Life changed considerably.
The structure around the old project changed with it.
Rather than trying to recreate exactly what existed before, I decided to begin again.
That's where Platypus In Return came from.
The platypus remains.
But the meaning has changed.
Return doesn't mean going backwards.
For me, return means coming back to what is essential after everything unnecessary has fallen away.
Returning to creativity.
Returning to working with my hands.
Returning to nature.
Returning to purpose.
Returning to yourself.
But returning differently from how you left.
Phoenix Within
The other symbol at the heart of this new chapter is the phoenix.
Across centuries of mythology and storytelling, the phoenix has represented destruction, renewal and rebirth.
It burns.
It becomes ash.
And from those ashes, something begins again.
That's why the words became:
Platypus In Return.
Phoenix Within.
Born from ashes.
Transcending is the way.
The ashes aren't something to be ashamed of.
They're evidence that something existed before.
You don't have to erase the previous chapter to begin another one.
You carry parts of it forward.
You learn.
You change.
And you create again.
The Meaning of Return
The idea of return appears again and again across philosophy, spirituality and religion.
It's there in the cycles of nature.
Seasons return.
Rain returns.
Plants disappear and grow again.
People lose themselves and find their way back.
Even our understanding of life is built around cycles of leaving, changing and returning.
There is also something beautiful in the spiritual idea that ultimately we come from somewhere greater than ourselves and eventually return to it.
Different traditions describe that in different ways.
For me, the important part isn't the label.
It's remembering that we are temporary, that circumstances change, and that what we do while we're here matters.
Jesus, Return and Transformation
The idea of Jesus returning is another powerful example of how the symbolism of return appears within spiritual traditions.
Jesus — Isa in Islam — holds an important place in both Christianity and Islam, although the two traditions understand his life and role differently.
I don't use this imagery as a religious claim about Platypus In Return.
For me, the connection is symbolic.
Return after absence.
Light after darkness.
Beginning after ending.
Transformation rather than repetition.
To return doesn't have to mean becoming who you were before.
Sometimes the person who returns is not the same person who left.
That's the idea that speaks to me.
The Blue Ray
Blue is also becoming part of the visual and symbolic language of Platypus In Return.
In contemporary spiritual traditions, the Blue Ray is often connected with truth, clarity, communication, protection and purpose.
It isn't a traditional Christian or Islamic teaching, and I don't present it as one.
For me, it's simply another symbol.
Blue is sky.
Blue is water.
Blue is distance.
Blue is calm after fire.
And that's why it sits naturally beside the phoenix.
Fire transforms.
Water carries.
Blue opens the horizon.
Orange and fire represent the phoenix — the transformation.
Blue represents what comes after — space, clarity and a new direction.
From Platypus Dreaming to Platypus In Return
The name is changing.
The creative path isn't ending.
I will continue working with handmade talismans, Queensland boulder opal, Australian stones, Moldavite, crystals and other natural materials.
I will continue cutting, shaping, weaving, experimenting and creating.
Some things from Platypus Dreaming will naturally continue into Platypus In Return.
Other things will be left behind.
That's how change works.
The intention is not to erase Platypus Dreaming.
It existed.
People were part of it.
Beautiful things came from it.
There are memories, friendships, talismans and stories scattered all over Australia and around the world because of that chapter.
I respect that.
But now it's time for something new.
Same Hands. A New Chapter.
Platypus In Return is not about pretending nothing happened.
It's about taking what remains and creating with it.
The work will continue to carry the things that have always mattered to me:
Creation.
Healing.
Respect.
Nature.
Transformation.
Freedom.
There will still be strange stones on the workbench.
There will still be Queensland boulder opal with wild ironstone running through it.
There will still be Moldavite that travelled halfway around the planet before reaching the rainforest.
There will still be knots to tie, stones to shape and new talismans that don't exist yet.
Only now, they belong to another chapter.
To Everyone Who Was Part of Platypus Dreaming
Thank you.
Whether you bought a talisman years ago, visited us, worked beside us, followed our pages, shared our work or simply stopped for a conversation somewhere along the way, you became part of the story.
Platypus Dreaming was a chapter worth having.
Now I'm ready for the next one.
I don't know exactly where it leads.
None of us really do.
Only God knows where, when and with whom life will carry us next.
For now, I'll keep creating.
Keep working with my hands.
Keep learning.
And keep moving forward.
Platypus In Return.
Phoenix Within... born from ashes.
Transcending is the way.
Be part or be art.
With respect and many blessings,
Kaya Xan
