Dreaming on Paper: Playperful, a Story of Creativity and Purpose
Hello, my name is Marta Naval García. I’m Spanish, although I currently live in Germany.
Playperful was born in my childhood. As a little girl, I spent hours drawing paper dolls and houses on the floor of my room. I simply felt happy creating that wonderful world —which was also mine— full of colors and freedom.
A few years ago, after my son was born, I came up with the idea of evoking and reviving the imaginary and creative universe of my childhood—bringing it into my adult life and building a sustainable lifestyle around it. In that moment, I knew this was the path I wanted to follow—with my creativity, my imagination, my dolls, and my paper houses—just as I did when I was little.
The creative process consists of three parts:
- First, I draw each piece by hand. Once the sketches are defined, I scan and color them using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- The paper houses require an additional step to complete each piece. Since they consist of three double-sided prints (the central and the two sides), I need to “assemble” the three parts so they can fold and unfold. The joints are made with "Paper Poetry" adhesive tape and reinforced with an additional layer of glue to ensure a strong, long-lasting bond.
- Once the pieces are ready, I pack and ship them with great care and attention, so that receiving a Playperful order is also a beautiful and exciting experience—always ensuring that each item is well protected throughout its journey.
Playperful is not only a dream come true; it is also a life lesson. It has taught me to believe in myself and to understand that any dream can come true if you feel it deeply and pursue it with passion.
It is a true joy to share this beautiful project with all of you. I hope my illustrations also inspire you to imagine and create your own world, filled with colors, stories, and happiness.
