Announcement   I'm working on updating photos before I re-list my pocket belts from last week's craft fair.
I temporarily removed some items so I didn't sell things at the fair that someone else tried to buy here.

About

It started in a classroom.

In 2009 I was in my first year of teaching at an independent school in New Haven, CT. I had to put conversations with students on hold too many times to get something that could have been in my pocket, if pockets were actually usable. Many women's pants have completely worthless pockets. In cases when the pockets were useful, things might get sent through the laundry. So, I devised something that would help me out. A pocket belt that fit everything I needed to have: my bells for calling for quiet attention, pens, pencils, sharpener, eraser, phone/calendar/appointment-notifier, and even dental floss, keys, business cards, and a mini tape measure. All of this, tucked away inside my pocket belt despite it's considerably less bulky size than regular tool belts.

Why not just use a regular half-apron? Because, those pockets rest on the front of my legs and would dump everything out when I crouched down.

Why not use a fanny pack? I love the 80s, but some things are better left to nostalgia.

I designed these pockets very deliberately to be as ergonomic as possible. The back pockets of the jeans are moved up toward the waistband and forward toward the front pockets. This allows for easier access and the freedom to sit down without sitting on everything.

I have since reworked my design and now use nylon webbing (available in a number of fun colors) for the waistband to make them adjustable. The webbing and parachute clips are made in the USA!

So there's the story of the pockets. Get some, they're the best.

    Owner, Creator

Greetings! I've been making and wearing pocket belts since 2009. Barely a day has gone by that I haven't worn one! It's helped me avoided putting electronics and other pocket-dwellers in the laundry. I'm also an avid garden minion and visual artist.

Additional policies and FAQs
In addition to making pocket belts, portraits, paintings and other types of hand-hewn pictures, I am also a gardener - hence the reference to Pockets, Portraits & Plants on my business card. However, the gardening is something I do locally and is not vended through Etsy.
