One poor girl learning the art of picking, one day at a time!
My life leading up to the spring of 2013 wasn't anything for the big screen. No explosions, no celebrities, no winning lottery ticket, (dang!) just a splendid life growing up in the shadow of New York City. My mom was a single mom for a while when I was younger so getting hand-me-downs, thrift store and garage sale clothes were normal. Getting to dig and find cool clothes was awesome! She did the best she could and I have her to thank for my passion of all things vintage and used.
So I'll fast forward to the spring of 2013. I had recently moved about 7 hours away and was facing a lot of uncertainty. I was unsure about my job, my living situation, my car, the direction my life had gone in, if I wanted a dog, you get the point. So to calm me down I did what any sane woman would do. I went shopping! I went thrifting and garage "sailing" (a term from my mother) and estate sailing. Just when I thought I was done, I kept going. It was too easy! So then I was faced with a new uncertainty. I had A LOT of stuff and not a lot of room or money. Then one day I had an "AHA!" moment. "Why don't you sell some of it Stephanie!" So down to the local flea market I went. I packed my little Ford Focus with some tables and stuff, and I sold my little heart out. Don't get me wrong, I was nervous. Were people going to like my stuff or were they going to think I was crazy?! Probably a little bit of both. Either way, I was hooked. I started having repeat customers. People asked where my storefront was. (MY storefront?!?!) They wanted business cards and they wanted to sell me more stuff. I was really taken aback by all the support. It took me about a year but I decided to jump in and I couldn't be happier.
I've always been a "fly by the seat of your pants"-er 'cause its the only thing that makes sense to me. I found my passion in life and I use that to fuel the seat I'm currently flying on. I am constantly on the look out for more vintage awesomeness so check back often!
