Curating, Color Coordinating, & Sharing my love of Crystals
I have been a collector and curator of rocks, minerals and gems for quite a while. With a name like, Amber, it was kind of my destiny, haha. This shop was born in September of 2022 when my husband said I had collected too many crystals, and needed to make room. What started as a simple endeavor to make shelf space for my personal collection has become my life's passion. A creative and joyful outlet I never knew I needed until now. With the help of my amazing husband, Dylan, we have grown Pop Rocks Decor more than we ever imagined and are so thankful you've joined us.
What's your background?
My day job has been selling homes in the Midwest and I have benefited from lots of creative time with marketing homes via pictures, print and especially social media. Back in my college Broadcast Journalism days I learned to shoot and edit video as well as occasionally be on camera. And esthetics has always been something very interesting to me. One thing has always been present in my career... listening to my customer. Helping someone find the perfect fit they are looking for requires simple empathy and knowledge, both of which, I love sharing.
Do you do Crystal Confetti's?
Absolutely! Themed Crystal Confetti's and Mixes are what really boosted our shop into some bestsellers. There are lots of beautiful confetti's out there but I had trouble finding ones that had a clear esthetic or metaphysical purpose. I ADORE finding themes that call to me and have very color coordinated tones. Some are bright fun mixes with hot pink and neon green like the "Spooky Mix" and some are earthy and subtle like our super popular "Autumn Harvest Mix". All the mixes include varying sizes of crystal tumbles and chips and I pride myself on finding unique materials to include. My favorite part though are the mini carvings!
What's your most popular item?
Carvings! Crystal Carvings are the most fun items to curate and stock at Pop Rocks Decor. Although we have a wide mix of Crystal Towers, Spheres, Flames and larger items, small collectible carvings are a buyer favorite. I search far and wide for carvers that have the highest quality details I can find. And many of our carvings are hand made to order from designs I request just for you. From cute to spooky and everything in between, we try to offer something for everyone. Especially animals, and seasonal items like Halloween, and Christmas designs. And our most popular, Crystal Gnomes! We currently have over 35 materials and our buyers love when a new material gets launched for their collection.
Why the name "Pop Rocks Decor"?
Because I'm an elder millennial, of course! Privy to growing up without devices and sharing that amazing popping candy with my friends while riding bikes in the wild 80's. I love the nostalgia and especially the music of the 90's, hence my favorite siriusxm station "Pop Rocks". And because I see crystals not just for all the metaphysical properties that people love, but for the beauty they bring into homes as decor.
Did you always want to have a Crystal Shop?
Nope. Haha. This kind of snuck up on me, but only because I was blind to what destiny was trying to tell me. Here are some fun facts that I never noticed until a friend pointed them out.
My Name: Amber - Meaning "Jewel"
Address: I moved to a neighborhood where all the street names are Crystals and Gems, lol.
My Heart: I have a heart condition where I literally have too much electricity in my body, and have to ground a lot to stop palpitations. (But zapping people after walking on carpet is pretty fun). Since surrounding myself with a massive amount of crystals, I rarely zap people anymore because I ground by touching the rocks so often. I like to think I am bringing up their vibration with all the energy.
The Vibe: My vibe check (according to friends) is impeccable...lol. "If Amber says the vibe is bad in that room, do not enter". I will literally not list a crystal until it's vibe gets right. I cleanse it, and put it next to it's new friends and tell it to get in tune first...lol.
